T. E. Lawrence to W. A. Knowles

 [Karachi]

31.3.27.

[omission] That oily creature talking about a wreath! The cheek of it. Thank heaven I never told him any of my work-day names. Otherwise he would have been still bothering me: whereas now you have probably choked him off. A broken arm for doing a man a good turn in starting his Crossley car: a persecution for trying to help an ex-fighting man to a job. These are the wages of good Samaritans today.

Yours ever

T.E.S.
